Presenters

Kate Thompson is a frequent lecturer and guest presenter at conferences and workshops. She has presented Kodaly Training Courses in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Auckland, Hawkes Bay and Kuala Lumpur. Kate is a Past President of Kodaly Queensland (KMEIA) and has also conducted choirs of various ages for Voices of Birralee. Kate has taught classroom music at both state and independent schools and is currently a Music Specialist at Ambrose Treacy College in Brisbane. Having taught in boys’ education for the majority of her teaching career, Kate is passionate about raising the profile of Music and enjoys finding new ways to engage her students.

Lynette Richardson has enjoyed a varied 38-year career as a Music Teacher, having taught class music and conducted Choirs across both Primary and Secondary levels, as well as dabbling in Piano, Voice, Musicianship, Theory and Instrumental Ensembles tuition.
She classes herself as a Choral Specialist and has devised a program of warm-ups for choirs of all ages and levels entitled “Choralastics™”. Lynette worked with The Australian Girls Choir from its inception in 1984 until 2007, as Tutor and National Music Director for differing periods of time. In 2009 she became the Director of Music for Choir Victoria.
Lynette is currently teaching classroom music and choirs across the Junior and Middle schools at Wesley College, Glen Waverley, a position which allows her to implement and explore the Orff-Schulwerk and Kodaly principles of teaching music, which are dear to her heart.
Above all, Lynette delights in enriching children’s lives with the wonderful world of music.

Melissa Dods is a long serving member of the VOSA committee, past VOSA President, and has been awarded a Life Membership for her contribution to the Orff movement in Australia. She has thirty years teaching experience and is currently the Junior School Coordinator at St Catherine’s Girls School in Melbourne, Australia. Melissa is the state coordinator for the nationally accredited ANCOS Orff Level Courses in Victoria and has taught within this role for over ten years. She is passionate about the singing voice and developing a love of singing through her teaching.
